Pomodoro timer
Twenty-five minutes of focus, a five-minute break, a long break after the fourth. Each square is one minute. Drag the block up or down to change its length before you begin.
- Space begins, pauses and resumes.
- Arrow keys on the face change the length, a minute at a time.

Timer settings
Settings and the running session are kept in this browser only.
How this timer keeps time
It doesn't count seconds. When you press Begin it writes down the moment the session will end, and everything you see is worked out from that. Browsers slow down tabs you aren't looking at and stop them while a laptop sleeps, so a counter would drift; an end time can't. Switch tabs, close the lid, come back: the face catches up to the right minute and, if the session finished while you were gone, says so.
The tab's title shows the countdown, so you can see it from another tab. When a focus or a break ends you hear the same bell the app plays, and get a notification if you turn them on in the timer settings and the tab is in the background. Settings and the session in progress are kept in this browser, on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
The settings go as far as the app's do: focus from 5 to 120 minutes, short breaks from 1 to 30, long breaks from 5 to 60, and a long break after anywhere from 2 to 8 sessions.
Timers for other rhythms
- 25 minutes The classic Pomodoro, five by five.
- 50 / 10 A class period with a break between.
- 52 / 17 The DeskTime ratio, and what it is based on.
- 90 minutes The long block, and the thin evidence behind it.
What a browser tab can't do
It can't put the countdown on your lock screen or in the Dynamic Island, ring when the tab is closed, run on your watch, keep other apps out of reach while you focus, or remember last Tuesday. Those are what the app is for.
